HEALTH:
Eating fresh fruits of all kinds is very important to our everyday and long-term health. Blueberries have a particular reputation as a super food for very good reason; rich in antioxidants such as anthocyanins, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, zinc and selenium they help protect the body and may even help assist you with your workout.
EXERCISE:
Already widely considered a ‘superfood’, researchers now suggest that blueberries may also help us recover more quickly after exercise. Experiments in New Zealand found that when blueberry smoothies had been consumed, there was a higher level of antioxidant defence in the blood which was linked to faster muscle recovery and rejuvenation.
NUTRITION:
For a healthy, post-workout smoothie, simply whizz together the following ingredients in a blender and enjoy:-
250g fresh or frozen blueberries
Semi skimmed milk
4oz. firm silken tofu
1 small pot of live yogurt
The silken tofu makes it creamy while adding 4 grams of protein per serving.
